Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to analyze the oral health status of companion dogs using Qraycam, which is useful for early caries assessment, and evaluate awareness level of the owners regarding their dogs¡¯ oral care.

Methods: This study targeted 50 companion dogs and their owners at dog cafes in Wonju. While the owners filled a questionnaire, intra-oral photographs of their dogs were obtained using Qraycam. The fluorescence photographs were analyzed to evaluate mineral loss; questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS statistical program.

Results: On fluorescence analysis, the degree of mineral loss in the dogs¡¯ teeth was about -80¡Â ¥ÄF ¡Â-30, indicating the need for first-level restorative treatment based on the treatment approach used in humans. The owners¡¯ awareness regarding oral care of dogs was analyzed by the Likert scale, and they recognized the overall necessity of oral care. However, a low practice rate was observed; 28.6% of the owners did not brush their dogs¡¯ teeth in the last three months, and 59.2% had brushed less than 5 times.

Conclusions: This study, which showed a low practice rate compared to the owners¡¯ awareness level regarding their dogs¡¯ oral care needs, indicates that Qraycam can be used to provide positive feedback regarding companion dogs¡¯ oral care.
